This year’s Old Pharosians’ AGM will take place in the new school buildings. We hope that as many as possible will be there. This is an important meeting as it will give OPs a chance to have their say about the future of the association. We particularly welcome nominations from OPs for the positions of president and secretary. These are two important roles, which are key to the future success of the association. The Association is very sorry to have to report the that the President of the Old Pharosians, Sir William Fittall, died on 10 March 2022 after a short illness. Having attended the school as a pupil from 1964-72, William was a very active member of the Association in later years. He served twice as President of the OPA, from 1991-1992 and again from 2017 until the present. In the most recent period he had been instrumental in moving the Association forward by changing from a subscription based membership system to one based on donations and in revising the Constitution of…

In the recent printed Newsletter we promised to provide further details of the school’s major fundraising appeal for new pianos as soon as the information was available. Below is the leaflet that the school has issued this week setting out the need and how we can each contribute, whether by bank transfer or using our JustGiving page. In either event, gift aiding donations (where people are taxpayers) adds 25% to each pound given. £25,000 is a big target but of we all play our part I’m sure we can help the school reach it.
